New Garden Taking Shape
The next time you visit the Discovery Garden, visit the Heather Garden, Rhodie Garden and Rose Garden. You will notice a mound of earth with some large stones and a small circular patio at the summit. What is taking shape is the Highland Rock Garden. It has taken the efforts of many volunteers and the donation of large rocks by Skaglund Quarry to get this far. You can look forward to a garden filled with rocks, alpine plants, dwarf evergreens, and native plants as the garden unfolds. The garden will include a crevice garden to resemble the rocky fissures found in alpine regions with tiny plants growing through the rocks. A narrow path will spiral around the garden for admiring the plants along the way and ending with a plateau and bench for viewing the Discovery Garden.
