SCMGF MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
All WSU Skagit County Extension Master Gardeners in good standing are eligible to be members of Skagit County Master Gardener Foundation (SCMGF).
The responsibilities of a Master Gardener and the responsibilities of a Master Gardener Foundation member are not identical. Master Gardeners represent WSU as they educate the public about research-based best gardening practices. SCMGF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises money to support the Skagit County Master Gardener Program, operates the Discovery Garden, and facilitates the exchange of ideas and information among individual members of the organization and WSU Extension.
The SCMGF Board, elected by SCMGF members, establishes policy for, and oversees the performance of SCMGF, and determines long-range goals. The Board also serves in an advisory capacity to the WSU Skagit County Extension Director and Master Gardener Program Coordinator. (SCMGF Bylaws, Art. IV, Section 5.)
Membership in SCMGF is not required. However, only members may elect SCMGF Board Members, serve on the SCMGF Board, or vote on matters presented to the SCMGF membership. You must affirm in writing to join SCMGF and become a member.
All Master Gardeners and Interns are encouraged to participate in the decision-making processes that support the MG program by joining SCMGF. Dues are not currently assessed. For more information, see the SCMGF Bylaws posted on the Member Corner.
