Doc’s Arbor
Dr. Richard Hoag (“Doc”) was one of a small group of WSU Master Gardeners who had the vision to start this garden. Before Doc passed away, he and his wife gave the first “seed” money donation. This arbor is created in his memory. Doc grew grapes and made many different kinds of wine.
The garden includes plants that could or do make an interesting wine. Some of our grapes include:
- ‘Edelweisse’ a hardy, disease resistant, large white grape with seeds. Good table grape, wine or juice
- ‘Einset’ has medium, bright red seedless grapes with a slight strawberry flavor. Eat fresh or use for wine or juice
- ‘Candice’ is a pink seedless grape. A good producer, can be eaten fresh or use to make wine or juice
- ‘Interlaken’ has large, green seedless grapes. Best eaten fresh
- ‘Sweet Seduction’ is large golden brown seedless. Eat fresh of use for wine or juice.
